During labor, Shelby was the best emotional and physical support person I could’ve asked for. She helped me and my husband throughout my 49 hour long labor. Her words, calm demeanor, and touch were more comforting than I can express. She helped my husband feel comfortable with what was happening and encouraged him to advocate in certain situation in the hospital. She helped keep the atmosphere calm, nurturing, and supportive, and I highly recommend hiring Shelby as your doula. My labor did not go as expected but I felt supported with her by my side.

While my birth plans changed and I ended up having a c-section, I can not imagine my pregnancy /birth/ postpartum period without Shelby. I met her a bit late in my pregnancy but the amount of knowledge and comfort she gave me was everything I needed and more. My son was sent to the NICU after being born and Shelby was right there with him when I could not be. She helped guide my husband and I on how to best advocate for ourselves. I will never stop thanking her for her constant love and dedication for me, my son and really my whole family. As a 3rd time mama attempting my first unmedicated birth at home I couldn’t have imagined not having Shelby to guide me through this transformative experience. The time and attention she took to make me and my husband feel safe & supported throughout this pregnancy has been such a special experience that we unfortunately missed out on with my other 2 little ones. While I felt that I had done my research, was very informed and knew what to expect this time around each time we met I felt I learned something new and became more and more confident in my ability to rock my homebirth.
